Let’s Recycle Right, Delaware County!

What to Recycle.

Below are the primary material types that you can place in your curbside recycling bin and drop off at DCSWA’s recycling container locations. Be sure to check with your municipality to confirm their specific recycling guidelines.

  • Glass

You CAN recycle glass food and beverage containers. This includes clear, brown, and green colored glass. Discard lids, empty, and rinse out. Please do not discard broken items or any other glass items (other than what’s listed above). You do not need to remove the labels.

  • Cans

You CAN recycle metal food and beverage cans. This includes soda cans, other beverage cans, and food cans (including pet food), as well as aluminum pie plates and trays. Empty the containers of any leftover food or beverage residue. You do not need to remove the labels.

  • Paper

You CAN recycle all office paper (white and colored material), along with junk mail, phone books, magazines, and newspapers. Please keep these materials clean and dry. You can also recycle paper milk and juice cartons (ensure these items are empty and rinsed out).

  • Cardboard

You CAN recycle a variety of cardboard materials, including corrugated boxes (used for shipping and packing), shoeboxes, gift boxes, cereal boxes, and tissue boxes. Remove all contents and flatten boxes. Make sure cardboard items are free from food residue or grease (ex: pizza boxes). Keep items clean and dry.

  • Plastics

You CAN recycle plastic bottles and jugs with a neck (where the opening is smaller than the base). Most #1 and #2 plastics fall into this category. Ensure materials are empty and rinsed out. Throw away caps. You do not need to remove the labels.

  • Things to Remember!

Bagged recyclables make it difficult to sort at recycling processing centers. Keep all recyclables loose in your recycling containers. Rinse items before placing them in the bin. Don’t be a wishful recycler! Only put approved materials in your bin.
